18k gold plated stainless steel is the best material for jewellery purchases as it offers many advantages – it’s durable, affordable, hypoallergenic, resistant to tarnishing and safe to wear in the shower and swimming.
All our jewellery is made from the highest quality stainless steel, then plated with 18k gold using a technique called PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition).
Stainless steel provides a strong and durable base, providing long lasting wear, while 18k gold plating adds a layer of luxury and elegance, without the hefty price tag that solid gold jewellery can come with.
Furthermore, gold plating provides hypoallergenic qualities, which makes it ideal for people with sensitive skin. The gold creates a barrier between the skin and the steel, minimising the risk of any reactions or irritation. It's perfect for everyday wear and a great choice for people with sensitive skin.
Care Guide
- Regularly wash your jewellery in fresh warm water, with a light detergent and rinse and dry carefully.

Lightly wipe your jewellery with a jewellery cloth to remove unwanted chemicals and green oxidisation build up from the surface and return the shine to your pieces.
- To increase longevity, store in a pouch or jewellery box in a dry place away from high moisture rooms such as bathrooms.
- Luisa Luxe jewellery can be worn in the shower and swimming! Make sure you follow our Care Guide and rinse with fresh water immediately after contact with salt or chemicals and store safely to avoid damage.
- Avoid lotions or perfumes being applied to jewellery for longevity.
- Avoid abrasive materials rubbing against the jewellery. Scratches and plating rubbing off over time is a natural occurrence of wear and is not covered under warranty. Use your discretion when wearing as repetitive tasks or movement can result in gold plating rubbing off faster in one spot on the jewellery, especially rings, and this is not considered a fault. Some pieces will hold their plating longer than others, for example dainty ring bands may have a shorter life than thick signet rings due to the fineness of the band and thickness of the plating layer. Consider this when choosing which jewellery to wear daily.
- 18k PVD gold plated stainless steel jewellery is designed to last longer than cheaper low quality jewellery plating. Please remember that all metal's gold colouring, including 9k and 14k gold, will naturally start to oxidise over time, sometimes causing a green residue on skin or on jewellery and this is out of our control. Make sure to clean jewellery regularly to avoid this.
- Use your own discretion when deciding whether to wear a piece of jewellery daily, even if it is made of materials suitable for daily wear. Dependent on lifestyle or activity, some pieces like flower pearls, thin chains or ring bands, tennis bracelets or stones in rings may be delicate or fragile and should not be worn daily or overnight to prevent damage.
- Unfortunately, we cannot replace jewellery if it has been damaged or broken due to wear. If damaged or unsecure, cease wear of the jewellery and contact us immediately. Do not wear until you can repair or replace the jewellery. All warranty claims require photographs of specific jewellery piece that shows your concern. Please understand that warranty claims will not be cconsidered without photographs of jewellery. Lost jewellery will not be replaced or refunded even if under warranty. You can expect your jewellery to last up to 6-12 months or even longer, depending on but not limited to how often the piece is worn and how you care for it.
- All huggie earring posts have the potential to bend or move through wear, transport or damage. This is not covered under warranty as this is not a fault in the jewellery and may require slight regular adjustment over time to keep them secure.
